You need a bank account because the UAE pays wages through the Wage Protection System (WPS). Your salary must arrive by bank transfer that MOHRE can see. To open an account you normally need your Emirates ID, passport and a salary certificate or labour contract; your employer often arranges a salary account. Check each month that your full salary arrives. WPS covers over 99% of private-sector workers. If your salary does not come through WPS, that is a violation you can report to MOHRE on 600590000.
