What is the Iqama, who applies and what if my employer delays it?

Your residence permit is called the Iqama. Your employer, who is your sponsor, must apply for it and pay for it. You need it to stay legally, open a bank account, get a SIM and travel inside the Kingdom. Check your Iqama status yourself on the Absher app or the MHRSD portal with your Iqama or passport number. If your employer does not issue or renew your Iqama, it is a serious problem, because you could be treated as illegal through no fault of your own. Report the delay to the Ministry on 19911 and keep proof you were working.
